Why Would You Say That?

I’ve been doing a ton of #AI panels and workshops over the past few months and learnt a lot!

One time I was thrown a grenade question.

Y’know, the really difficult, awkward question. Despite our list of prepared questions, it was still thrown at me.

Anyway, I’ve had to improve my panel discussion and questioning skills, both as a host and a panelist. And I’ve realized that panel skills also great for business meetings and 1:1s!

Here’s my framework for panel discussions (and also great business meetings)

1) Introductions – Host and Panelists

2) Open – Initial remarks with statement, statistic, or quote.

3) Strategic question – Broad or high altitude. e.g. How do you see AI impacting your business?

4) Expanding question – What are the benefits or consequences, why the audience should care? e.g. What’s is your business doing to make sure you’re successful with AI?

5) Specific question – Share examples, case studies. e.g. How have you seen AI save time or increase revenue?

6) Application question – Make sure the audience walks away with value and the ability to apply the information. e.g. Where should businesses start with AI?

7) Close question – “What’s the one you want the audience to take away from this session?

8) Summary – final remarks and thanks everyone for attending.
