Let fear push your forward rather than hold you back.
I was asked by LinkedIn to answer a question on presentations and public speaking and thought I’d share my learnings…
Let fear push your forward rather than hold you back.
Be nervous.
It’s normal, natural and it’s your body giving you a boost of adrenalin to perform better.
After 20 years of public speaking, I still get nervous.
Start small, offer to run meetings.
Ask for coaching and advice from others.
Join speaking groups like Toastmasters.
I’ve learned it’s better not to expect perfection. Refer to you notes. Pause. Ask “What else did I want to cover here?”.
Be human. You’ll connect with the audience.
Practice a great opening and awesome close. Everything else will flow.
Know you’ve got this!
