#Calgary #InnovationWeek in full swing yesterday with a great session and panel discussion on accelerating Cleantech in #Canada and the journey of Carbon Engineering – from start-up to $1B acquisition.
Start-up lessons from founders (that can be applied any team):
1) How does the customer see this? Not you, not your team, not experts. Your customers. Get feedback on your product or service.
2) Don’t rely on theory. Get to build quickly and iterate.
3) Leverage legislation. This helps you get funding and drives your solution. For Carbon Engineering, California’s legislation was instrumental in raising funds.
4) Right team for each phase. Skills and leadership of early stage start-up are different from growth stage, and different from expansion. Know who you need and the expertise at each stage of delivery.
5) Network with friendly intention. Get out there and meet a lot of people. Meet the right people and find out how you can help them, how can you collaborate.
