Gotchas to watch-out for…Insights from the #Alberta #Innovation Peer Forum meeting on Tuesday.
Thanks for Mike Procee, MBA, P.Eng. and Shannon Phillips from Unbounded Thinking for hosting and gathering a group of energetic, creative thinkers!
We asked the question “What are the risks of Innovation?”
Innovation is good but here are 5 gotchas to watch out for:
1) New ideas don’t work and innovation creates a bad impression.
Solution: Have many ideas, regular updates on wins and learning.
2) People not on the innovation team feel left out.
Solution: Get their input, share updates, reiterate their role is important to keep the business running.
3) It costs too much.
Solution: New ideas often cost more at the start. Start small and scale fast, evaluate.
4) Too many ideas and not enough delivery.
Solution: Quick wins, regular updates on progress, cut ideas that don’t deliver.
5) Innovation dies quickly.
Solution: Ongoing ownership of the innovation into operations and sustainment.
