Start-ups and Tech projects have a lot in common.
They both need to deliver a result for a customer. However knowing what your customers and project stakeholders really need is not always straightforward.
Start-up ideas and Tech project delivery need to be proven, tested and refined.
I had a great conversation on this topic with Cory Bergh, BComm MBA CFA at Innovate Calgary yesterday.
Here are the key steps for getting to what your customers and project stakeholders really need:
1) Talk to your customers or project stakeholders. Ask them about gaps, what’s not working for them, what do they need to get done in the next 12 months.
2) Minimum Viable Product (MVP). Show them something early. Doesn’t have to be perfect. Ask for feedback. Keep them updated on progress. What’s working and what isn’t?.
3) Iterate. Make improvements. Adjust the schedule if needed. Continue to update your customers and stakeholders regularly.
