Frustrated With Your #ERP? Don’t Upgrade! Here’s Why…

Despite the appeal of a shiny new “Cloud based, AI enabled, Automate everything ERP”, replacing your current Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system is often not the answer.

Your current ERP is slow, has lots of manual workarounds, you have to export all the data to Excel, and reporting is lacking. I get it.

But upgrading or replacing your ERP is a big deal. It’s expensive. It takes months.

Here’s what I tell my clients to do instead:

1) Talk to your ERP vendor. They can advise you on how to use your current ERP better.

2) Update. Get your current ERP onto the latest version of software and features.

3) Training. Does your team know how to use the ERP in the best way? Get your expert users to host a tips and tricks session.

4) Process Review. Check your business processes are working with your ERP not creating more work.

5) Improve reporting. Use with tools like Power BI or Spotfire to create dashboards and management KPI reports for better decision making.

6) Data. Review your data quality, fix your source data so you’re not correcting data outside of your ERP.

7) Speed-up. If your ERP is slow, talk to IT about upgrading the processors or database.

What do you hate about your ERP?
