From The Mind Of A CEO: 5 Tech Questions

As the CEO of a growing business, I want to make sure 2024 is a success and we deal with any challenges quickly.

At a recent business leaders workshop, we had many questions on Technology and AI. I thought back on our discussion and came up with 5 Tech Questions to help us prepare for 2024.

Hopefully this also helps your teams.

Where can we use automation?
How can we operate more efficiently? What slows us down? If you had a magic wand, what’s the one thing you’d change?
For example, automate the sales quote to PO process, processing of invoices and order entry.

How can we use AI? And what are the risks?
There are still questions and risks around using AI but I think these are outweighed by the potential of AI to save time. How will AI impact our business?

How does technology drive results?
I love tech but it must have a positive ROI and help our my business move forward. My tech team needs to understand and align with our business goals. How can we break down silos between business and tech teams.

How can we reduce Technical Debt?
This is a common issue. 70% of global CIOs and tech leaders say that technical debt has a “significant or high impact” on innovation and slows down projects. I’m reviewing my current technology stack so we have an up to date inventory. I use a checklist when introducing new technology that considers existing technology first. We check for any duplication.

How do I know things are going well?
Accurate data and KPIs dashboards are key for measuring progress towards our goals. I need to know the status and upcoming milestones of projects and financial performance of my business. I ask my team to summarize results ‘pitch-deck’ style and I also ask ‘What are we not thinking about?’

💡 Great questions fuel our conversations. And conversations are the foundation of connection.
