Too often I see automation leading the project. That results in wasted time and money.
I get it. We’re sold on the latest technology solution that will solve all our problems. And it can. But only if we do it the right way.
Start by fixing the process. To find the problems and bottlenecks in your financial reporting process, get with your team and ask these five questions:
1) Can you produce accurate financial reports, consistently, ideally by the 10th day of the following month?
2) Can you get the financial metrics you need on a weekly basis?
3) Are the reports shared to all the stakeholders on time?
4) Does everyone know how to read the reports and how to use the information?
5) Do you get questions on your financial reports, asked for advice on how to improve the results?
