Jim Collins said it best in his book, hashtag#GoodToGreat.
Get the right people on the bus and more importantly, get the right people in the right seats. If you’re not doing this, that’s just one of my 3 red flags for ERP projects.
Red Flag #1
Lack of detailed, integrated schedule. Not a list of tasks. A schedule of work and tasks linked together covering everything from design to testing to data migration. Time spent planning will speed up your delivery.
Red Flag #2
Allowing the system integrator to run the project. System integrators are crucial, but it’s up to organizations to lead the project and align projects decisions with company goals.
Red Flag #3 Lack of clarity on roles and responsibilities. Make sure you have you have the right people in the right roles and a single leader accountable for ERP delivery. Including Executive buy-in and support.
Be prepared to change people and their roles as the project progresses.
Don’t let your ERP dreams turn into a nightmare! Plan meticulously, define roles clearly, and lead the charge.
